Attention Americans!! **** If you are accustomed to American strip clubs where there is always a girl on stage, stay away! We got there around 10:30, and me and my party of 4 had to stand outside for about 15 minutes (we were the only people 'in line'). After finally being let in, there was a $15 cover for everyone (I heard girls got in free... Apparently not) and they insisted that we check our coats AND sweaters after making a copy of our ID's and passports AND taking pictures of our faces... We get inside and there is no one of stage, so we sit down, 15 minutes later, there is still not a girl on stage... We ask one of the bouncers why there is no one on stage and apparently in Canadian strip clubs there is a 15 minute wait in between girls!!!!! Also, the girls will not take American money, i didn't really think so, but I read somewhere they they did. Anyway, the smallest bill in Canada is a $5 so if you want to tip the girl on stage it's got to be a 5. These Canadian strippers are completely spoiled and snotty. I will never go to a Canadian strop club again, biggest waste of money (we also attended another strip club that night hoping the 15 minute wait between girls might have been just for that club... Nope, there's a 15 minute gap everywhere). If I could give this club zero stars I would.

The woman who brought an aura of class to Vancouver’s high-end strip club scene was remembered Tuesday as a kind and generous person. Brandy Sarionder, who ran the exclusive downtown Brandi’s Show Lounge for years, was found dead in her Coal Harbour apartment on the weekend. Friends began hearing the bad news on Sunday morning, several days after her death. She was 50. A friend told The Province that the years since she was ousted from the Hornby Street club in 2010 have been tough for Sarionder. “She was broke and in a nearly homeless situation,” said the friend. “She was just depressed. She had no money. She was about to be evicted. It’s horrible.”

A controversial massage parlour has tested the patience of the City of Richmond once too often.

The Water Club — which operates on the 11th and 12th floors of the Radisson Hotel on Cambie Road — had its business licence cancelled Monday.

Glenn McLaughlin, the city’s chief licence inspector, had recommended the club have its business licence pulled after the club committed another series of bylaw infractions.

The club was had its business license suspended in March for 60 days after police and bylaw officers caught naked employees and customers in compromising positions.

Members of the Richmond Gang Enforcement Team even entered the club on one occasion, after spotting license plates of known gang associates in the hotel's parking lot.

This time, the club fell foul of the city’s bylaws in October, when licence officers and RCMP officers were ignored when they tried to gain entry for an inspection of the club around 11:40 p.m.

Waiting outside instead, the police officers intercepted clients leaving the club, who were identified as “high level drug traffickers.” The clients confirmed to the officers that they were in the club and claimed to have received foot massages.

Nine days later, when an inspection team did manage to gain entry, they discovered a window to a room obstructed by a robe (contrary to the bylaws) and a person under the age of 19.

“Given the history of this establishment’s business operations and the series of bylaw infractions after its business licence was suspended for 60 days, it is the recommendation … that the business licence … be cancelled such that this establishment is prohibited from doing business in the City of Richmond,” McLaughlin wrote in his report.

McLaughlin further noted in his report that “considerable resources” are used to inspect such adult orientated businesses.

It’s understood the club had already closed, but, as its licence was valid until next October, the city wanted to make sure it didn’t try to re-open.

Many of the inspection raids at the Water Club were prompted by calls from hotel staff, who got fed up with what appeared to be underage Asian females — whom they understood to be prostitutes — heading up to the club armed with alcohol during the early hours.

And on several occasions, the club's manager, Paul Jin, either refused to let the officers into the premises or took a while to come to the door.
